How Did We Get Here?
I'm Sharon Lee, and I created the Culture Club Show in 2013. After several years in a lucrative job in the pharmaceutical industry, I decided to pursue my passion. I wanted you to be ' in the club' of understanding the intrigue and fascination for ' culture' and international travel. Hence, The Culture Club Show was born! Although the band that held the same name had not toured or been in the public during this time, they did begin touring a year later, but I'd already created the website, registered the show name at USPTO trademark, and we were official!
I've traveled to 103 countries, and started when I was very young. My parents took me as a young child to Western Europe, the Galapagos and to Tahiti, and I caught 'the bug', and never looked back. I began traveling alone in 2001, and have been to 12 countries on the continent of Africa, and most of Asia, Europe, and other exciting destinations.
When I created the show, my idea was to film in other countries and my show would air on TV. You'd see it and want to travel along with me, or learn where to explore, and that would be my life's dream to change the misconceptions of international travel. In 2014, I pitched the show to OWN, Discovery, Africa Channel, and many other channels. I attended travel shows, spoke at travel events, rented a theater to present my pilot episode to the public, and the press, and talked to absolutely anyone and everyone that I thought could help me get my amazing show on the air. I led tours to Kenya, and brought people to see the non-touristy spots in other countries.
Ten years later, although the show didn't get on the air, my passion for seeing exotic places, and meeting indigenous people, examining cultures, and staying curious is just as important to me. I hope that this site, and my YouTube Channel will keep you entertained, and you may learn something about a country or part of the world that you didn't realize... ENJOY! I'm talking about real people, real places, and want us to take some real adventures!!
